Orphan Grain Train Assists local Ranchers through Neighbors Helping Neighbors


On August 12, 2026 and August 26, 2026, Orphan Grain Train provided 68, 1,400 round bales for distribution to local ranchers from Mora and San Miguel Counties.


We are facing urgent needs due to the long-term recovery from the 2022 Hermit's Peak Calf Canyon wildfire, ongoing water infrastructure damage, and the continued impact of the post-fire flooding and drought.


Neighbors Helping Neighbors NM Inc, is grateful for the incredible support from Orphan Grain Train and the City of Las Vegas. The City allowed us to use the space behind the black train on Grand Avenue as a distribution location. They also provided support to unload the semi-loads of hay.


Thank you Lowell Krieger for trucking the loads from Nebraska to our City. Thank you Damon Thomas for donating the second semi load to NHN for distribution.


Special thanks to Arnold Lopez, Albino, Corey Pacheco, Marco Coca and Matt Borrego for helping to unload the bales from the semi and for loading and securing the bales into the recipients trucks and trailers.
