Bellow Forth: Eco-Social Art & Restoration Workshop

Bellow Forth is an eco-social art initiative, grounded in Traditional Ecological Knowledge and dedicated to restor(y)ing soil health and ecosystem/ecocultural resilience through art, storytelling, scientific research, education, and community collaboration across wildfire-affected Lands in northern New Mexico. Launched in 2023 following the 2022 Calf Canyon and Hermit’s Peak Wildfires, this project promotes ecosystem regeneration through unconventional strategies. It integrates local knowledge, stories, and community-led actions into artworks/Land installations that facilitate long-term ecosystem science and monitoring.

On September 12, 2026, we will host a celebratory art/workshop event for communities to take part in and learn about these efforts. Guests are highly encouraged to stay on site and camp.

We invite YOU and your community to join us in grieving the losses and impacts of climate change, while also taking action – burying, planting, blessing, and celebrating what’s possible in the wake. The day will include ceremony and prayer from Tewa Elders, and an educational workshop about facilitating ecological succession in post-fire ecosystems (above and belowground) through art, storytelling, and fungi, and planting native trees, shrubs, and seeds. Our shared labor will be followed by a feast in the baby forest surrounded by soundworks and music performances tuned towards the benefit of the entire ecosystem.

    Neighbors Helping Neighbors New Mexico, Inc. receives 501(c)(3) Status The Board of Directors of Neighbors Helping Neighbors New Mexico, Inc. (NHN) is pleased to announce that it has received its official 501(c)(3) designation from the federal government.


    This milestone marks the culmination of extensive organizational development and strengthens NHN's ability to serve survivors of the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire in Mora and San Miguel Counties. This structure will also enable NHN to share its expertise and resources with other communities in need, should the occasion arise. The NHN Board of Directors comprises Rev. Jill Cline, Adrian Lucero, Ryan Ervin, and Janna Lopez. Ms. Lopez has served as the program's linchpin, Program Coordinator, and Case Management Supervisor since its inception, working alongside Case Managers Gloria Pacheco, Bob DeVries, and Nancy Esquibel.


    Since its grassroots beginnings nearly three years ago, NHN, with generous support and funding from community partners including UMCOR, the Las Vegas New Mexico Community Foundation, The Santa Fe Community Foundation, St. Paul's Peace Episcopal/Lutheran Church, the Mora/San Miguel Long Term Recovery Group, 1st United Methodist Church, First United Presbyterian Church, Cornerstone Church, Heart of David Worship Center, the Las Vegas Rotary, and Victory Life Church, among many others, has addressed the unmet needs of over 500 families.
    To date, NHN has coordinated the distribution of over $1.3 million toward supplies, equipment, agricultural hay and feed, well and septic repairs, flood mitigation , firewood (more than 2,000 cords have been delivered !), and other essential needs and services.
    In addition to material support, NHN provides case management and community outreach as well as mental, emotional, and spiritual support.
